Resources for Law Students

Healthcare law is a rapidly growing field with a wide variety of career opportunities for new lawyers. Law firms, corporations and government agencies are eager to hire new lawyers with an interest in healthcare law.

Opportunities exist in a broad range of practice areas including: litigation, administrative law, regulatory compliance, hospital law, human research, intellectual property, Medicare law, mergers and acquisitions, insurance and managed care, public interest groups, elder law and government agencies.

Although law students are not currently eligible for membership in CSHA, we provide resources for students to pursue careers in healthcare law.

Law Student Mentor Program

CSHA is pleased to offer a Mentor Program for law students interested in healthcare law.

Members interested in becoming a mentor, or students interested in finding a mentor, contact 916.552.7605.

The objectives of the Mentor Program are to provide law students with knowledge of the healthcare law practice areas, a better understanding of the career opportunities in healthcare law, and a connection to a practicing attorney. CSHA’s mentors are committed attorneys who volunteer their time to make the program a worthwhile experience for law students.

We make every effort to match the student and mentor’s geographic areas and find a mentor with experience in the healthcare law area of interest to the student. Student and mentors are encouraged to meet for lunch, coffee or just a few phone calls or emails.

CSHA would like to thank all of the volunteers who have made this program a tremendous success.
