Hearing Officer Committee
Glenda Zarbock and Brock Phillips, Co-Chairs
The Hearing Officer Committee develops educational programs and other resources intended to increase the number of California attorneys with the requisite expertise to preside over medical staff peer review hearings. The Committee establishes the criteria for listing qualified attorneys on two hearing officer lists on the CSHA website — the Completed Hearings List and the General List — and screens applicants for each list. In addition, committee members keep current on statutory and case law pertaining to the duties and responsibilities of hearing officers, collect experiential data from hearing officers on the conduct of hearings, and attend bi-monthly meetings to share the collected information. Based on this information, the committee develops the training programs, which are offered at regular intervals and serve as a prerequisite to inclusion on the Hearing Officer lists.
