Attorney Adviser
David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base
The Defense Health Agency Office of General Counsel has an
opening for a permanent full-time GS 14 position (excepted
service) located at David Grant Medical Center. Remote work is
not available, but telework is authorized. The position will
require occasional travel. Relocation expenses will not be
reimbursed. Salary range is $144,017 – $183,500 per year. The
successful applicant will provide legal services for the
providers at this military medical treatment facility (MTF) in
addition to providing legal support for staff at other locations.
While the primary area of practice is military health law (which
covers the gamut: credentialing and privileging, bioethics, risk
management, medical-legal issues, animal and human subjects
research, protecting patient information, and agreements), the
successful incumbent also will be involved in typical non-medical
government and Department of Defense administrative law issues
and ethics questions. Prior experience advising MTF or hospital
staff on these areas of practice and/or advising state medical
boards/associations is nice, but it is not required. The Defense
Health Agency would consider a candidate with a strong
administrative law background, particularly within the federal
government. A good work ethic, sense of collegiality, willingness
to learn, and the like are really what will set a successful
applicant apart.
