Barton Health, located in beautiful South Lake Tahoe, NV is seeking to hire a Full Time Corporate Counsel for Regulatory and Risk. Remote option with time in office as needed

The Corporate Counsel for Regulatory Compliance and Risk (Counsel) is responsible for managing the many and varied legal affairs of both Barton Health (Barton) and BHC MSO LLC (MSO). The Counsel areas of focus are a range of legal issues arising at Barton and MSO, including regulatory and reimbursement issues, fraud and abuse issues, and risk management. This position will retain and manage outside counsel, oversee the Compliance and Risk Management Departments. In conjunction with senior leadership, the Counsel establishes legal policies for the organizations, strengthens governance processes, and ensures compliance with internal and external requirements.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
• Health law or specialty professional education, or equivalent experience (preferred).

Experience:

• Minimum of seven (7) years’ legal work experience either with a law firm or in-house legal department involving the performance of general, operational, or specialty legal services for hospitals, health systems, medical foundations or groups, clinics, providers, health care delivery organizations, or integrated delivery systems.
• Minimum of seven (7) years leadership experience.
• Experience with Medicare/Medicaid billing issues and appeals.
