Working under the supervision of the Associate General Counsel, the Staff Counsel – Contracts provides legal counsel and services to the executive teams of Children’s Hospital of Orange County, and its affiliate organizations (collectively CHOC Children’s) including interpretation of, advice regarding, and representation on a wide variety of matters related to hospital and health system operations.
Two to five years of experience. Preferences for prior large law firm or in-house experience, healthcare experience related to contract drafting and transactional matters, experience analyzing arrangements under the Stark Law, Anti-kickback Statute and other fraud and abuse laws, EMTALA, HIPPA, antitrust laws, and any other regulatory requirements applicable to healthcare arrangements, and experience advising physician groups on acquisition, transactional and regulatory issues.
Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and organizational skills. Intermediate or advanced computer, spreadsheet, & database skills. Ability to work independently but within a team framework. Oriented to provide excellent customer service and meticulous attention to detail. Must be self-motivated, work well in high-energy, fast-paced environment.
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited institution required. Admission to and current active, good-standing licensure with the California Bar or the ability to become licensed immediately following job acceptance.
