Hearing Officer Training and Materials
A core qualification to be eligible to participate in the hearing officer program is that the attorney attend CSHA training programs. Participants are also eligible and are expected to review training resources materials. The training programs cover the broad array of fundamentals, common problems and options for handling hearings, controversial topics that have yet to be resolved, and the latest developments in this rapidly evolving area of California law. The programs also provide unique insight from speakers who are among the foremost experts in California peer review.
CSHA Online Hearing Officer Training Update Program – Held November 2019 Hearing Officer Video Training Presentation
Thank you for your interest in CSHA’s Hearing Officer Training Update Program.
As part of its ongoing training and certification requirement for attorneys listed as Hearing Officers on the CSHA website, CSHA presented an update program in November 2019. The training session consisted of a presentation that discussed and analyzed significant appellate decisions in peer review disputes since the time of the last training program, and a panel presentation based on a series of hypothetical questions and situations often encountered in peer review hearings. The training provides up to 4 hours of MCLE credit.
Written materials were provided in connection with this training program, some in the nature of general reference material, and some in the form of presentation outlines/handouts. We recommend that you download the curriculum provided by the speakers prior to viewing the videos, to better follow the presentations and references to those materials by the speakers.
PROGRAM COMPLETION
Since verified completion of the training program is one requirement for inclusion on the CSHA Hearing Officer Listings, it is necessary to confirm that the video program has been viewed in its entirety. To meet this goal, a pop-up will periodically appear during the various program sessions, which will require you to record verification codes to confirm that you are actively participating. At the end of the final video, please complete the electronic evaluation form. While such forms are typically important to help evaluate and improve CSHA training programs, they are especially important here given this new format, so your completion of the evaluation is required.

CSHA Online Hearing Officer Training Program – Held June 2017 Hearing Officer Video Training Presentation
Thank you for your interest in CSHA’s online Hearing Officer Training Program. To better serve the interests of our members, we have made this program available in an online format for convenience, ease and educational enrichment.
The training program, offered in Los Angeles in June 2017, was recorded to create a video for future training purposes and includes both the video presentations and written materials. All of these written materials are available on the CSHA website. While the general reference materials are valuable, at a minimum, we recommend that you download the core curriculum provided by the speakers before viewing the videos, to better follow the presentations and occasional references to those materials by the speakers.
